Good to know
Is this a telehealth appointment?
No. There is no video call, phone call, or examination. It’s a written records review — that’s what lets us offer it to anyone, at a flat price, on your schedule.
Will insurance or Medicare cover it?
No — and by design. Because there is no examination or office visit, this is not a covered service under Medicare or insurance plans. It’s self-pay only, and no claim is submitted to anyone. Many patients can use HSA or FSA funds.
Does buying a review get me an appointment faster, or count toward surgery?
No. The review is a standalone product. It doesn’t change scheduling for anyone, and the fee is never credited toward any other care. If you later choose to be seen at TJS — or anywhere else — that happens through the normal process under your normal coverage.
What do I need to have?
X-rays are the heart of it — standing (weight-bearing) X-rays if you have them. A phone photo of the images from your patient portal works. MRI reports and office notes help but aren’t required. Our team can help you collect records after you start.
Who writes the opinion?
A fellowship-trained hip & knee replacement surgeon at Total Joint Specialists — the same surgeons who perform thousands of joint replacements a year.
Who can use it?
Georgia residents, any age, any coverage. If you have severe pain, a recent injury, fever, or sudden loss of function, this isn’t the right tool — contact your physician or seek emergency care.
